LIVING a CHRISTIAN LIFE Bible Study Series
Teachings by Eileen Smith, KANSAS

There is a practical side to living a Christian life.
Salvation brings a change in our lives and prepares us for
heaven. It equips us for the here and now living. We will never
attain the high mark set for the Christian life by using men of
this world as a model. Neither can we choose a Christian brother
and measure our lives by theirs. Paul says we are to be
followers of God. Jesus commanded his disciples to be
imitators of God.

Luke 6:36
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

God's mercy is so great that the Bible refers to it as being
from everlasting to everlasting. Mercy is the outward
manifestation of pity. God showed mercy to the needy and
undeserving sinner for whom he sent his own son as a sacrifice
for sin. so Jesus commands his followers to also show mercy.

Luke 6:35
Love your enemies, & do good, & lend, hoping for nothing again:
and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of
the Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful & to the evil.

Jesus commands the disciples to love their enemies and do good.
God set the example by loving a rebellious and sinful world.
He gave his only Son. God calls on the Christian to respond in
the practical manner of giving. Jesus told the twelve disciples
as he sent them out to minister

Freely ye have received, freely give" Matthew 10:8
We are to follow God's example because we are His children.
God created us inhis image and we were born again by his own
will. We have the example of God's wisdom, love and power.
So it is only natural for us to imitate him in this respect.

WALKING IN LOVE

OFTEN CALLED 'WALKING in the LIGHT'

Be ye therefore followers of God as dear children: & walk in love,
as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an
offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Ephesians 5: 1-2

The practical result of this imitaiton of God is to walk in love.
Walking is living. This living is a special kind of living that
comes from knowing Christ. Without love event he ability to
speak with the tongues of angels leave men to sound like a
noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. Prophetic powers to foretell
the future and power that will move mountains are useless in
the Kingdom of God if not accompained with love. The person
who walks in love is not boastful and he does not seek
vainglory. he does not display himself haughtily.

Can you imagine Jesus as a person who displayed these
characteristics? He had reason to boast about who he was,
but he didn't. His life of Humility is the example of love that
we are to follow as we walk among the body of Christ.

As we close this 3 part series I want to give a summary of them.
The Christian live is a life of faith. Our salvation comes by
grace through faith. Every promise that God gives, we acquire by
faith. Those whose lives please God are men of faith, for without
faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is dynamic in it's
nature. Real faith has action, because he who really believes will
act upon that belief. The just shall live by faith. Once
justified by faith, we must continue to live the Christian faith
in the same manner we began, by faith. This faith in God will
sustain us through trials, tribulations, persecutions, victories,
and prosperity of the Christian life. Faith in God will allow the
Christian to tap into a power outside of himself which is eternal.
Jesus Himself said "HAVE FAITH IN GOD."

Thank You and God Bless each one.

GOD's NEWS

THIS IS THE JUDGMENT that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. GOD so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have Eternal LIFE. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
