WORSHIP The KING!
WHY WORSHIP GOD?  





It is a sense of a calling from the Lord to a deeper
relationship with Him. There is difference between songs
about Jesus and songs to Jesus.
Songs to Jesus create an intimacy with Him.

Our worship blesses God.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, 
and into his courts with praise, and bless His holy name.

PSALMS: The SPIRIT of WORSHIP 



Father, open our ears and hearts to what You are saying,
in Jesus name amen

Psalms 29:2 
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;
worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Psalms 95:6 
O come, let us worship and bow down: 
let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

Psalms 96:9 
O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness:
fear before him, all the earth.

Psalms 99:9 
Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill;
for the LORD our God is holy

What we see here is a command to worship God. Worshiping God
is one of the primary reasons for the church's existence. There
seems to be much controversy today about worship. The type of
music, how much time is spent in singing praises to God,the
worship service is too short or too long. I want to inject one
thing here, if we cannot spend time in worshiping and singing
praises to God here on earth, how are you going to stand it when
we get to heaven. God is worthy of our praise!

How does a person really worship God?
Do we reallly understand what worship is?
Worship is according to Webster's dictionary is
a service or rite showing reverence for a deity.
Intense love or admiration. a title of honor. Respect.

There is only one who is worthy of this honor, respect,
this intense love and reverance. and that person is God.
We run through a song service really fast and most of the time
we never really take the time to worhip the Lord. People are
more interested in watching the clock than they are worshiping
God. If that is the case than why did they bother to get up and
come to church. We must make a determination to do what ever it
takes to remove anything or anyone that we put above God.
Remember God is Holy.

Psalms 99:1-4

The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the
cherubims; let the earth be moved. The LORD is great in Zion;
He is high above all the people. Let them praise thy great and
terrible name; for it is holy. The king's strength also loveth
judgment; you establish equity, you execut judgment & 
righteousness in Jacob.

This psalm portrays God in the character of a king. He is clothed
in majesty and divine holiness. It is His divine holiness that
demands that He be glorifed & honored as a king. The Lord is
worthy of our praise.  In verse 3 the Lord God is so awesome and
holy that even His name must be treated with the utmost reverence
and respect. God may never be treated lightly. We must love and
fear God at the same time.

And at the same time we can experience his presence every day in
our hearts. We can experience his presence when we come into his
house, in our homes and wherever we are. Terrible in that verse
means awesome. Holy means separate or distint. There is not other
being like God, He stands alone. The Lord reigns and reigns in holiness.

This is the sure foundation upon which to build our lives.
We must be careful not to adopt the world's casual use of His
name. The power of God is always related to justice.
God always acts in relation to His character.




Psalms 99:5-9

Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel was among
those who called on His name; They called upon the Lord and He
answered them. He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; They kept
His testimonies And the statute that He gave them.  O Lord our
God, You answered them; You were a forgiving God to them, yet
an avenger of their evil deeds. Exalt the Lord our God And
worship at His holy hill, For holy is the Lord our God.
For the LORD our God is holy.

What does it mean to worship at his footstool?
It means to bow down with our faces at his feet. True worship of
God begins with a posture of humility at the footstool of God.
We can be assured God still answeres prayers today. Many would
like to receive from God without first giving themselves to Him.
His desire for us is to first receive His gift of salvation.
Then he will respond to our worship with wonderful expressions of
love and blessing. God has come down through Jesus Chrsit and
seeks our fellowship and delights in hearing and answering His
people's prayers.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD
with gladness: come before his presence with singing.  Know ye
that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we
ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

What does it mean to serve the Lord with gladness?
Joy in the Lord isone of lthe distinguishing marks of a believer
who is in right relationship with God.  The psalmist wrote of
serving the Lord with gladness.  He was writing about a happy and
cheerful attitude of worship.  In song we remember that he
created us and redeemed us, and that we are now His people and
He is our shepherd. We sing of his love, faithfulness,
and truth that will endure forever.
