In this chapter we will see the destruction of Babylon,
the capital of the antichrist. In the end time Babylon will
be what any great city is: a political, commercial, social,
and cultural center. The city of Babylon will be rebuilt close
to where it existed in ancient history. Babylon sat somewhere
on the Euphrates River at the head of the Persian Gulf.
(In what is now IRAQ / KUWAIT general area)

The Iraqi government believes that the ruins of Babylon will
make exciting attractions for the tourists of the world.
The population has increased greatly since 1958 because the
Iraqi government is building homes and moving in workers to
bring old Babylon out of the grave. The ancient city is being
resurrected. The one world government, the one world religion,
and the one world banking system that make possible the
commerce of the world is already gathering momentum. It is
just a matter of time before they decide where to locate.
It is believed it will be Babylon.

By that time the Babylon religion under the leadership of Rome
will have taken over the world council of churches and its
ecumenical movement and will be rapidly moving toward
uniting and combining the major religions of the world under
the leadership of the one person. By this time the world
bankers will be more than willing to finance the rebuilding
of Babylon as the greatest city of the world to accommodate
the headquarters of this one world government and one world
religion. Iraq is one of the most oil rich countries
in the world and will guarantee their investment.


BABYLON REBUILDING UPDATED

Saddam Hussein, the dictator of the country, has spent over one
billion dollars on the rebuilding of that ancient city, which 
will one day be taken over by the antichrist. Dr. Charles Pak
from Tulsa, Oklahoma and Dr. Joseph Chambers of Charlotte,
North Carolina, two bible prophecy teachers, have been to
Babylon. Even though Hussein has had problems with America
and the United Nations, they said his rebuilding program is
progressing. They said the first rebuilt structure in the
old city was a temple to the sun.
Hussein is a committed Satanist! He is a muslim for political
reasons, but at heart he is a sun-god worshiper.


Verse 1
A great angel comes down from heaven. Coming from God,
and coming with great authority and power. His glory is so
glorious that the light of his glory blazes across the whole
earth. This symbolizes that his message and mission are meant
for the whole earth.


Verse  2
The message of this angel who cries with a might voice is this:
Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the great.
This will involve a worldwide economic collapse. But it also
will be destroyed because it has become a place for devils and
their worship. Also a place for every foul spirt
(unclean spirits) & the filth of the underworld.

Immorality, fornication, adultery homosexuality, all forms of
immoral behavior will run wild. Lying, stealing, cheating will
be rampant. Lusting after more and more of the possessions and
pleasures of the world will increase greatly.  Sorcery, devil
worship, witchcraft, fortune tellers, astrology will be revived
and run loose.

Secularism, materialism, & humanism will dominate the
philosophies and behavior of the people. There will be a
few who will believe and follow Christ and the Word of God
but for the most part society will be spiritually corrupt.


Verse 3
This means that all the nations, kings, and merchants have all
been corrupted. The business-men and merchants will have
grown rich because of its wealth. And because of the wealth
it will be able to control nations and leaders and business
men from all over the world.


Verse 4-5
John hears another voice from heaven. This voice is either
GOD Himself or of one speaking for Him. Who are these
people referred to by the voice from heaven as "my people?"
They could be Tribulation saints, people who were not
Christians at the time of the Rapture of the church but who,
during the Tribulation, received Christ as Savior and Lord.
What they are doing in the capital city without the mark of
the beast is difficult to comprehend, but the passage indicates
that some will refuse to bow their knee to antichrist.

Another suggestion is that they may be Israelites who have not
yet recognized Christ and repented of their national and
personal sin by turning to Him. If Babylon is to be the home of
commercialism, one can be sure that many Jews will be present.
One of the parts of God's call to his people living in Babylon
is to "come out of her, my people, so that you will not share
in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues."

Because God works on the principle of "a man reaps what he
sows, these people are warned that if they partake of the sins
of Babylon, they will be judged accordingly. This invitation
to come out of her is God calling all sinners of all ages to
turn to him in repentance. In every age He receives those who
are willing to repent of their sin and look to Him for mercy
through his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Only those that do so
will avoid the judgment of God that comes on all sinners.

Verse 6
The call is for God or His agents to act in divine justice &

render to Babylon what she herself has rendered to others.
True followers of Christ will not try to avenge themselves.
But the time will come when those who have rejected God's
loving provision of salvation must face God's holy & righteous
judgment. Babylon will be judged "double unto her double."
This may be a way of saying that she will receive a full
measure of what she deserves. She deserves punishment,
not only for the suffering she caused the saints, but also for
the sins, corruption, greed, luxury, and immorality that was
behind what she did to them. She will get what she deserves,
which will be the wrath of God.

Verses 7-8
Babylon will be destroyed because of self glory, pride, selfish
extravagance, and indulgence.There will be "torment and sorrow'
and it will be equal to her greed and self serving ways.
"Living deliciously" means in sensual, immoral luxury.

Part of the reason for judgment upon her is that she thinks of
herself as a queen, not a widow. She expected always to rule,
to be in control. She expected to be upheld always by the
beast. She did not believe that the plagues of God judgment
would ever touch her. Ancient Babylon in Isaiah's day felt the
same way, but in fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy it was leveled
to the ground and made a swamp, "pools of water."
Isaiah 14:22-23, 21:9, 47:7-9
(archaeological records of Sennacherib confirm this)

Isaiah 14:22 "I will rise up against them," declares the Lord
of hosts, "and will cut off from Babylon name and survivors,
offspring and posterity," declares the Lord. 23 "I will also
make it a possession for the hedgehog and swamps of water,
and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction"

Isaiah 21:9 "Now behold, here comes a troop of riders,
horsemen in pairs." And one said, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon;
And all the images of her gods are shattered on the ground."


IN ONE HOUR

Furthermore this judgment will come on her "in one day"
suddenly. Actually it will happen IN ONE HOUR. The rich,
powerful, and the unscrupulous who piled up wealth at the
expense of others will be stripped of their wealth in one day.
Death, and mourning, & famine will be part of the judgment,
and fire will complete it.

The judgment will show that God is strong, not weak.
Babylon apparently treated God's long delay in bringing
judgment as a sign of weakness. What they failed to recognize
was the love behind His patience.

6-10 Pay her back even as she has paid, give back to her double
according to her deeds; in the cup which she has mixed, mix
twice as much for her. To the degree that she glorified herself
and lived sensuously, to the same degree give her torment and
mourning; for she says in her heart, 'I sit as a queen and I am
not a widow, and will never see mourning.' For this reason
IN ONE DAY her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning
and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the
Lord God who judges her is strong. And the kings of the earth,
who committed acts of immorality and lived sensuously with her,
will weep and lament over her when they see the smoke of her
burning, standing at a distance because of the fear of her
torment, saying,
'Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city!
For IN ONE HOUR your judgment has come.'


REPENT, AMERICA!
TURN BACK to GOD & HIS LAWS!


 


Revelation 18, Verses 9-10


The kings and rulers of the earth mourn over the fall of Babylon
even though they helped to bring it about. They mourn because
their power and position, used for their own luxury and
gratification of their own pleasures are ending.

The kings of the earth in this verse are not the 10 kings
of chapter 17. The kings in this chapter are the rest of the
rulers of the world who fear that they too will share in
Babylon's fate.

The kings of the earth make no attempt to come to the aid of
the great city. "Fear of her torment," fear that they, too,
might be tortured, has caused them to distance themselves
while observing the destruction of the city.

The cry of these kings is a cry of horror. They keep saying
Alas, Alas (exclaiming sorrow or pity).
They recognize that what is happening is judgment,
sudden judgment - IN ONE HOUR. Whether they understand
that its source is divine is not specified in this verse.
