The New Testament BIBLE tells us to EXPOSE LIES, so I am doing that.
MY MAJOR PROBLEM and reason for posting this is the DECEPTIONS,
LIES and THEFT, in my mind, of Barbara Richmond. If she had told
Christians she denied Jesus is GOD openly, I would have said nothing.
For her to take money from Christians who believe she is in
Christian ministry is both lying and stealing from GOD Himself.
Barbara has moved from Colorado to Jerusalem, Israel and changed her name to
Leah Rafaeli. There is nothing wrong with doing that. She has repeatedly
denied Christianity and rejected Jesus as Christ and Messiah and the only
Son of GOD to many different people, to become an Orthodox Jewish convert.
SHE IS NOT THAT EITHER!
She was unwilling to tell me she believes in Jesus after 3 emails to me.

Barbara's partner, Mike Clayton, has a very strange belief too.
A friend of mine asked him about all this, and Mike answered,
he does not believe in the Trinity or that Jesus was God in human form,
or that the Greek New Testament is from God
although he believes Jesus is the Messiah. How weird is that?

DECEPTION
Her message July 15, 2003 to her Christians list was DECEPTIVE.
She did not tell us she had denied Christianity as a false religion
and now believes Jesus a false god, not Diety.
She herself told someone, who forwarded her letter to me,
that she gave up the false belief July 17, 2001.
Once we deceive, as her July 15 newsletter was intended to deceive us,
it opens the door to much other deception.
I sent her an email about deception, hoping she sees this.
Deceiving people is SIN to Real Christians, to Orthodox Jews,
and to Messianics. This is not something I wanted to believe,
and I went to great lengths to verify it.
The Christian world needs to know this, so they can make informed
decisions on supporting her financially.

LIES CATCH UP WITH BARBARA RICHMOND
The Washington Post published a follow-up article about
Barbara Richmond aka Leah Rafaeli. He has been investigating
Barbara's past and family, and points out discrepancies in her
testimony about her claimed Jewish background. In an Oct. 5, 2003
Post article in which Barbara described how her family was descended
from Portuguese Jews who had kept their religious identity a secret
for several centuries, provided a different account in a book
she wrote several years ago. Two relatives of the woman also have
raised questions about her accounts, saying they are not aware of
any Jewish ancestry in her family. In referring to Barbara's
autobiography, the Post article says, 'The book notes that both of
her birth parents, as well as her adoptive parents, are deceased.
When she was interviewed for the October article, Richmond did not
mention being adopted. Richmond's birth mother was alive and was
located from information supplied in Richmond's book. The mother,
Norma Cleaves Perry of Mass., said that neither she nor Richmond's
birth father had any Jewish roots. Perry said she did not know why
Richmond, with whom she had not been in contact for several years,
was asserting that the family was of Jewish descent.'

I am glad ONE Christian FINALLY had the courage to stand up to her DECEPTION.
She is still telling Jews one story and her financial supporters a different

July 22, 2003 Jerry Golden calls her a false prophet. He had seen her going into
error and intentional deception long ago. A couple years back I wrote a letter
concerning a certain (FALSE) vision that Barbara Richmond said she had where
a Hasidic man approached her in the Old City of Jerusalem. He called her by
name and told her that there were over 40 Rabbis in the Old City of
Jerusalem that Believed in Yeshua as Messiah. Her story grew over the
following months to say that there were many Messianic Believers in Israel who

I understand that she has denied Jesus Yeshua and has converted to Orthodox Judaism.

pray for some discernment. Nothing is more important than the truth, for that is
where we will find the Ruach Ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit). As for Barbara's fall from
grace, that was her choice and hell waits her less she repents and comes back the

Barbara Richmond has been trying to dance at two weddings for too long.
For over a year she has been telling Jews, including rabbis, both in Israel
and in the USA, either that she is Jewish or that she wants to convert,
and that she no longer believes in Jesus/Yeshuah. At the same time,
she has continued to proclaim Jesus/Yeshuah as Messiah to Christian audiences,

more information on Barbara Richmond, we are forwarding at this time a
statement by the rabbi to whom Barbara presented documents in her
attempt to verify her status as a Jew.
FROM Rabbi Nachum Eisenstein To Concerned Jews
I have examined the documents presented to me by Barbara Richmond
in her effort to establish her identity as a Jew. The documents are inadequate.
Since she has not subsequently provided any other documents which I
requested and which she said she would be able to supply,
my ruling at this time is that we cannot establish that she is Jewish.
Furthermore, I have examined the contents of the extensive file presented
by Concerned Jews. I am convinced that Barbara Richmond is a missionary
of the most insidious sort, using double talk and other devious and
deceptive methods to ensnare Jews. It is clear from the contents of this
file that Barbara Richmond has been deceiving both Jews and Christians
alike, and that those on both sides of the fence should be wary.
There is also a suspicion on her son Shimon and daughter-in-law Raquel
that they are also missionaries.
Please note that Barbara Richmond, while proclaiming to Christians and
Jews alike for years that she was Jewish, when given the opportunity,
failed to present adequate documents to validate her claim.
While it is understandable that you as Christians are upset by

I also feel lead of God to say the following to all the Messianic Groups.
Don't allow anyone or anything to take you away from the Grace of God.
Don't be placed under the Law but under grace. It is by grace through faith
we are saved. That is not to say we should not seek truth in the
Jewishness of Yeshua, for without the knowledge of what God is doing with
the Jew and Israel we will miss our calling for end time ministries. To seek
the Jewish roots of Christianity is to seek the truth of God's Word.
Don't allow anyone or any movement to take you away from the Cross
and the work of Yeshua on that Cross, for it is through His blood we have
forgiveness of sin, not through our works or our knowledge.

A few days ago, Barbara sent me the attached letter renouncing Christianity
that she promised that she would send out to her entire mailing list.
Today I received a new note from her telling me that she decided to only send
the letter renouncing Christianity to a group of 400 contributers,
and to her large e-mail list, she sent a different letter.
(I'll bet Barbara never told her 400 contributors.)

Dear Friends:
As many of you know, a few years ago I learned with certainty what I had
long known, that my family roots were Jewish. The documentation given to me
only increased my already well developed love for studying the Bible which
I had been doing for years, particularly the Torah.
The longer I studied, the more I realized that most of the theological
foundation upon which traditional Christianity rests exhibits serious flaws
by way of contradictions to the Torah given at Mt. Sinai. This, I knew,
could not be, and since the Torah is the eternal standard of holiness and
righteousness, the multiple errors in the New Testament cast serious
doubts on its validity as a reliable document, both historically and
theologically, a fact well known in higher academic circles but rarely
admitted to the lay population.
For some time, I have been unable to endorse or agree with the tenets of
Christianity and considering my Jewish heritage, I have a responsibility
according to the Tanach, to renounce any and all forms of idolatry and false
religions and return to the one true God of the Shema, the God of Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob, to return to my people, and to the Land of Israel.
This responsibility I have chosen to fulfill to the uttermost.
I have been learning to live as an orthodox Jew for some time already,
to the extent of the knowledge that I had. Now it is time to completely
immerse myself in a Jewish community and to learn and practice Jewish life.
I have just completed a book about my journey of faith and had intended,
according to the counsel I have received from two respected authorities here
in Jerusalem, to release this letter with the publishing of the book at the
beginning of the month of Elul, which is the month of T'shuva or repentance.
However other circumstances have dictated that the letter be released to you
earlier. From now on I will be known by my Hebrew name, Leah, instead of Barbara.
My children are embracing their heritage along with me and also learning how
to live a Jewish lifestyle.
I have four children. Elizabeth is presently moving to Virginia.
Her belongings are already there and she is at present wrapping up some final
things in Florida. My second daughter, Susan, also lives in Virginia.
They both are in Alexandria to be precise. My sons are Victor and Shimon.
Victor and his wife Julie are at the University of Alaska at Anchorage on
scholarships. Both are students and will be finished next May with their degrees.
Shimon and his wife, Raquel, and their 4 month old son are now in Colorado
but have already filed their papers for Aliyah and hope to be here soon.
ALL of my children have embraced their Jewish heritage and do not believe any
longer in the deity or messiah doctrines of christianity. Shimon and his
wife have been attending and studying with Chabad for nearly two years and are
the most observant, as they have learned the most. My daughters and my other
son and his wife are following the same path and are learning as well.
They observe Shabbat and have embraced Kashrut, though they are still learning
some of the finer points of observing Kashrut. This is not a new or impulsive
thing at all. They began their transition quite some time ago, more than 18 months.
I deeply appreciate your prayers for them as they walk this journey.
I am very thankful that the family is united.
They very definitely do not believe in Jesus.
On the second question, Yosef, it has hardly been an impulsive or recent decision.
At the age of 58 with several years of christian history behind me, it was a
soul-searching and very difficult process over a two year period. However,
I can tell you precisely the day that I totally and completely gave up the
false belief. It was two years ago tomorrow, July 17, 2001.
I wrote it in my diary.
You may ask why it has taken me this long to make a public statement.
For some time, my Jewish advisor was Moshe Kempinski in the Old City
of Jerusalem. I confided to him my change of belief, my desire to embrace
Judaism, etc. He urged me over many months to go slow, to let time pass so that
my embracing of Judaism would never appear to be impulsive and he was also very
concerned that because he has met many people who said to him that my lectures
were the key to ignite their hunger to learn Torah and seek for the truth of the
scriptures, that he did not want me to lose those people with a premature
announcement. It was only within the last three weeks, when I went to him and said
that I could not wait any longer, that I HAD to declare who I am, that he said to me,
I think my advice may have been wrong. I am very willing for you to speak with him
if you wish, to veryify everything I am telling you.

FALSE STORY circulating
1996 encounter in Jerusalem, in which an Orthodox Rabbi approached one Barbara
Richmond. According to the story for which Barbara was the sole witness, the
Orthodox Rabbi informed her that he believed in Yeshua, and that there were some
40 additional Rabbis, all supposedly Believers as well, who were congregating
together regularly in Jerusalem. I myself have met Orthodox Jewish Believers in
the recent past, but their demeanor and manner in which they express their faith
is anything BUT secretive.
Zev Isaacs reported that he had spoken to Barbara himself, as a journalist,
trying to find out the facts surrounding Barbara's story and surmised that they
could not be supported in any way. During his second conversation with Barbara,
it became apparent to him that the whole story was simply made up of fantasies,
beyond the possibility of just one Ultra-Orthodox Jew coming to faith.
When challenged Barbara says
I have no desire or intent to get involved in self-defense. I completely
understand your skepticism regarding my testimony. let's face it, eyewitnesses
to that conversation would make my life so much easier!!!

What Barbara says is determined by her target audience.
Until she was recently exposed,
she was a Christian to Christians and Jewish to Jews.
Her new book says Jesus is not Messiah, I am told.
Several others have emailed me they have become increasingly concerned,
most say for about 2 years. The people I know well and trust
have been concerned about the direction Barbara has gone.
I keep getting emails affirming this page to be true. Here is one
from someone who does not wish to be identified.
The first time I read your stuff about Barbara, I thought you were crazy.
Now I totally agree because I sought some information from her too and got
weird responses. I am good friends with her oldest son and met her once and
believed she was a Christian teaching that we should look at the roots of our faith.
That's a good thing to look at and I did and found things she said to be true.
She just sent me her new book, End of Exile. I've only read the first 50 pages and
can agree with the things she wrote that far into the book, however, I skipped ahead.
She does deny Yeshua as the Messiah. I had noticed changes in her son too and
he left the church last June (2003). He was our youth pastor at my church!
He preached Yeshua as Messiah and all that, but now has all but dropped off the
face of the earth. He is very secretive about things and that has always bothered
me. Anyway, I just wanted to affirm what you've provided on the website.
