THERE ARE 3 GROUPS of GIFTS
of God's HOLY SPIRIT

OFFICE gifts,  5 fold ministry gifts

MOTIVATION gifts

MANIFESTATION  GIFTS

1 Corinthians 12

Many of the problems in the church in Corinth was the
abuse of gifts.  We are NOT to ARGUE about them!   Let 
people believe what they want. Only share what they ask.
Ignore them or say I dont care to argue the point.

Division, strife is worse than whether or not they believe
in the gifts.  As long as they accept Jesus Christ as
Yeshua Messiah, only Son of God they are in the kingdom!
JESUS keeps us from HELL,  not gifts

JESUS is the FOUNDATION of the Church
FRUIT:  The Holy Spirit produces thru our obedience.
WE are not the fruit, that is what God's Spirit produces
in/thru us as we yield to HIM.
If I be lifted up from the earth I'll draw all men to Me
John 12:32


MOTIVATIONAL - OFFICE - BUTTERFLY
I call the motivational gifts is 1 Corinthians 12
'butterflies' because you cannot possess a butterfly. 
If you catch one and touch its wings, it can no longer fly.
It will die.  We have Jesus, we give ourselves to Jesus by
reading and obeying His Word, and thru prayer.  
Therefore Jesus has us.

WE do not HAVE the GIFT ...  the GIFT  HAS  US!
JESUS is The GIFT

The more we study the Word, pray and come to know Jesus,
the more we are obedient to His revelation, the more of US
He has, and the more He will use us.   If you find this 
confusing, dont be bothered.  Dont think about that too much.
The Lord will reveal what He wishes you to know.

WHY the gifts?  to equip us for ministry 
we are to make belevers that can make believers
WARNING!   Seek the Giver, NOT the gifts!

Remember to stir up the gift of God, in you by the laying on
of my hands. - 2 Timothy 1:6
You've all received the gift, so minister it to one another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  1 Peter 4:10

Butterfly Gifts that light on anyone, as the Spirit of God
wishs, then fly on-  in other words, these are not gifts you
can claim to 'have' but rather a way God has used you on one
or more occasions.

These occur AS GOD's SPIRIT WISHES in any given 1 to 1 or
group situation.  YOU do not heal, God does.  He may use
you that way today, but not tomorrow.

CAUTION:  SEEK the Giver, not a gift.  
Satan will counterfeit a gift.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.
There are different kinds of working (manifestations),
but the same God works all of them in all men. 
I Corinthians 12:4-6

DEFINITION:  MANIFESTATION
results, creation, power to create
WE don't do the creating, God does!
Jesus is the manifestation of God.
Seek the GIVER - NOT the gift!

The manifestation gifts are listed in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
The manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common
good.  That is, for the good of the person or group to 
whom you are speaking.

WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE

To one there is given through the Spirit the message of WISDOM,
to another the message of KNOWLEDGE by means of the same Spirit,
What is wisdom?  It's often just Common Sense!
Example:  These 2 gifts are interpreted in differing ways.
Which is which should NEVER, EVER be argued over!
One explanation I prefer is KNOWLEDGE is knowing WHAT to do,
WISDON knows WHEN to do it.
These are both supernatural knowledge, wisdom. 

DISCERNMENT

You can call the Word of Wisdom discernment too.
Most save discernment for spirits, but it is much more.
My preference is to say The LORD gives me supernatural insight,
say if a woman has been raped.  Nothing she has said would 
infer that, but I suddenly know that. The REASON is to HEAL her.
Not just to know.  We are TOOLs in the Hand of our Master.
The tool doesn't say when its to be used or how.

FAITH and HEALING by the one (same) Holy Spirit,
Without faith it is impossible to please God.  Without faith we
cannot be used for healing.  The devil DOES counterfeit the gift
of healings and all other gifts.
FAITH is foundational to operating in all the gifts,
this is an extra 'boost' of faith.

MIRACLES - miraculous powers
supernatural ability to do supernatural things.
Example - the axe head floated  in  2 Kings 6:5
As one was cutting a tree, the axe head fell into the water:
and he cried, ONO!  That was borrowed!





MANIFESTATIONAL * GIFT of PROPHECY 

The MANIFESTATION GIFT of PROPHECY is like a BUTTERFLY
It lights on whoever He wishs, momentarily
This gift is NOT permanent

PROPHECY - With this you really need to pray to know if to say,
what to say and WHEN to say.  You need 

DISCERNMENT, or distinguishing between spirits.  
Supernatural ability to know who is of God and who is of the devil.
Also can tell who is open to the gospel and who is just a trouble
maker.  sueprnatural ability to discern means others will not 
understand how you know this when they can't see 
That's where the Body NEEDS to understand the gifts, in order to
fit together and get along and protect and defend one another
instead of gossiping and fighting.
Look who Paul told this to!  The fighting, immoral Corinthians!
Either side of his Chapter 13 LOVE chapter!

EXAMPLE:  Years ago in Minnesota I was in a charismatic Lutheran
church's evening service.  They would manifest in the Gifts
sometimes, but no tongue had been given for perhaps a year.
As we sang in the Spirit I had a wondrous vision of Jesus standing
in front of the sanctuary, directing us as He would a choir.
The singing went on for awhile as Jesus directed.  I could see Him.
Physically?  To me it was, yet in my mind.  I was confirmed in 
that, as He lowered His arms, the singing subsided.  He gave me a
prophetic Word. But He said "Wait for the tongue".  I obeyed ..
a man stood and gave a tongue message,
then I gave the interpretation.

Now this is Group 3 - that was a butterfly gift of prophecy.
That means God chose to use me that way that day.  That does not
mean I am a PROPHET.  It was God's Spirit MANIFESTED as a REHMA
Word in that moment for that group.

PROPHECY is listed in all 3 Gift Groups.
It is the gift both Moses in Numbers 11:25 and Paul in
1 Corinthians 14 wished ALL God's people would have.

In the church God has appointed first of all APOSTLES,
second PROPHETs, third TEACHERs, then workers of miracles,
also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others,
those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in
different kinds of tongues.  1 Corinthians 12:28

GOD wants to work through us to help the Body of Christ, 
to build it up, to equip the church to serve others.

PROPHECY:  We know in part, and we prophesy in part
1 Corinthians 13 verse 9 Amplified:
our prophetic knowledge is fragmentary, incomplete, imperfect

Our prophecy, unlike Old Testament prophets, is part God's
rhema (now) word and part soulish.  We sense what God is saying,
but may go one step further, or timidly only speak a good part,
omitting what seems like a bad part of the Word.
Our emotions are involved.

WHAT is  PROPHECY?
There are 2 catagories:   Fore Telling and FORTH telling.
The prophet speaks the Word of God in a given situation and it
results in encouragment and/or repentance.

In the OT  (Old Testament) the prophet ahd to be 100% accurate.
The NT has no such demand.

GREEK - LOGOS  word and RHEMA word
LOGOS:  The written Word of God, Scripture, Torah, Bible  
NOT the Apocrypha the Catholic Bible has.
RHEMA:  A 'NOW' Word of God for a specific person or group.  
It is also Logos, but it leaps out at you.
The RHEMA  Word can NEVER contradict Logos, the written Word.

Ephesians 4:13   God gave  SOME  office gift .. not all.  
5 fold ministry gifts to train church to minister.
he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the for the 
edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in the unity 
of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a
perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of
Christ:

1 Corinthians 14  desire to prophesy, to encourage 
Prophesy with  FAITH         1 Thessalonians  5:15-23
Pray without ceasing.  In every thing give thanks: for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit.   Despise not prophesyings.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.  Abstain from all
appearance of evil.  And the very God of peace sanctify you
wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be
preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Oh!  I have that gift!  NOOOOO!!!!!  WE do not HAVE the GIFT,
the GIFT HAS US!  JESUS is The GIFT

Gift of PROPHECY

A PROPHET  weeps if the people rejoice, 
and rejoices when the people are weeping  (in repentance).

TIMING -  the Word may be for now, or may be for later
BEWARE of soulish 'words' - they may be partly from God, 
but partly NOT.  Discern, pray over word.

PROPHECY is like the MAILMAN
We deliver the mail, and leave.  Drop it.
We are NOT responsible for another heeding, obeying.  Free

Ezekiel 2
I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation which
has rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed
against me, even unto this very day.  For they are impudent
children and stubborn! I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say
unto them,  Thus saith the Lord GOD.

And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear,
(for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath
been a prophet among them.  And thou, son of man, be not afraid of
them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers & thorns be
with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of
their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a 
rebellious house.  And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether
they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most 
rebellious.  But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee;

Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth,
and eat that I give thee.  And when I looked, behold, an hand was
sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;
And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without,
and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.

Pray thoroughly over any word you are given.
It could be 100% false, or partly true.
Let 2 or 3 speak and the others judge/discern.

WE do not HAVE the GIFT ...  the GIFT  HAS  US!
JESUS is The GIFT

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers?
Do all work miracles?  Do all have gifts of healing?
Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?
1 Corinthians 12:29 - 30

Eagerly desire the greater gifts.
And now I will show you the most excellent way.
1 Corinthians 12:31

Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts,
especially the gift of prophecy.    1 Corinthians 14:1

Anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God.
Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his
spirit. - 1 Corinthians 14:2

But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening,
encouragement and comfort.  1 Corinthians 14:3

He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies
edifies the church.   1 Corinthians 14:4

I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would
rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one
who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church
may be edified.  -  1 Corinthians 14:5


ASIDE ...
CONVICTION  is God's Spirit saying STOP this specific sin,
and His Grace to STOP comes with it.
GUILT is the result of REBELLION against the Spirit's conviction
1 Samuel 15:23 says rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft




GOD's NEWS






THIS IS THE JUDGMENT
that the Light has come into the world, 
and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, 
for their deeds were evil.  

GOD so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
Eternal LIFE. For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

He who believes in Him is not judged;
he who does not believe has been judged already, 
because he has not believed in the name of the only 
begotten Son of God.  John 3:16-19
