California Church Festival Shooting
May 17  A man with a semiautomatic rifle opened fire at a church festival,
wounding his ex-wife and two bystanders before festival-goers grabbed him and
held him for police.  The man walked away after the shooting but was quickly
grabbed by heroic bystanders, one of whom was an off-duty police officer.

The festival was at a Roman Catholic parish.  The man has had an ongoing dispute
with the mother who was hospitalized in stable condition.  A 45-year-old man was
shot in the chest and was in critical condition and another man, 47, was in stable
condition with a leg wound.

May 18  A charter bus flipped on its side, killing a woman and injuring
22 other people on a Mojave Desert freeway.  The bus was the only vehicle
involved in the wreck on Interstate 40

Morgellons disease 
Scientists debate cause of feared 'worms-under-skin' disease.  Victims complain
of inflammation, lesions, itching, fatigue.  Scientists are debating whether a
dehabilitating condition called Morgellons disease could be caused by bacteria
or fungus on plants in California, Texas and Florida, though many agree that

USS Mt Whitney near Lebanon 
May 17 - USS Mount Whitney, the US Navy's most advanced command,
communications and intelligence vessel, took up position opposite Lebanese shores.
It is there to support communication requirements for our ships already underway.
The USS Cole missile destroyer arrived earlier, the USS Harry Truman carrier

SYRAN-bALLAH Takes Lebanon
May 13  SYRAN-bALLAH = SYRIA - IRAN - HELLSBALLAH / HELLzies!
After 6 days of fighting between government loyalists and Hizballah leave about
100 dead and 200 wounded, the Lebanese army's demand that all combatants
lay down their arms will go unheeded until the Shiite terrorists decide they have
achieved their goals.

Hizballah is now focusing on the northern Tripoli region and the central mountains
east of Beirut.  Tripoli is important to Hizballah and Syria as a supply hub for arms
from IRAN trucked from Syria. Hizballah must crush the Druze militias of the
anti-Syrian Walid Jumblatt which control the Chouf mountains east of Beirut.
Hizballah issued an ultimatum for Jumblatt to surrender weapons to the Lebanese
army, or face the consequences. Hizballah-Syria pounded the Druze.

After the Druze falls Hizballah will likely go for Sidon. This would isolate the Christians.
In the face of the SYRAN-bALLAH's lightning conquest of Lebanon, US president
George W. Bush's statement that the United States would not let Syran undermine
Lebanon's sovereignty is meaningless.

Indonesian Ferry Fire
May 18  Indonesian Ferry Catches Fire with over 700 people aboard.
An inter-island ferry caught fire as it neared port on Borneo.  Rescuers pulled
10 survivors from a river.  The status of the other passengers was not
immediately clear, but attempts were being made to evacuate others.

8 explosions in India leave 80 dead
May 14  A curfew has been imposed in Jaipur, India after a series of bomb
blasts killed 63 and left about 200 wounded.  Bombs explode within 12 minutes of
each other. Motorcycles appear to have been used in the attacks.  Police said it
was a terrorist attack and have detained a number of people for questioning.

Police are to use hundreds of airport-style and hand-held weapon detectors in a
crackdown on knife crime.  Officers will be deployed across London that have
recorded the most knife crime. They will stop and search teenagers suspected
of carrying weapons.

Police admit the "in your face policing" is expected to raise community tensions,
but they have community support, desperate for them to crack down on the problem.
Officers can stop people and search them without the need to have "reasonable suspicion"
that they are engaged in wrong doing.  There has been criticism of the powers because
research has found it hits black communities disproportionately.

China Olympics Anyone? 
2008 was supposed to be a joyful year, a time for celebrating at the Beijing
Olympics and basking in international recognition of Communism. An uprising in
Tibet focused the world's attention on China's abuse of human rights. And now a
violent earthquake has devastated a broad patch of central China. The scale of
destruction is so vast that it is difficult to imagine a carefree crowd in Beijing
when the Games open Aug. 8. Not to mention a rapidly spreading deadly virus.

China is on precautionary alert against possible radiation leaks.  The disaster area
is home to China's chief nuclear weapons research lab and several secretive atomic
sites.  Environmental Protection met hours after the 7.9 magnitude tremor rocked
Sichuan, and activated the lowest tier of a four-stage system of ranking radiation leaks.

May 17 UPDATE  All aid efforts in Beichuan halt as a river bursts its banks.
Thousands of Chinese earthquake victims and rescuers fled, fearful of flooding from
a lake where water levels were reported to be rising dangerously. Aftershocks
causing landslides, and not doing any favors for dams and bridges.

Beichuan was a town of 160,000 nestling in one of the world's most beautiful valleys.
When rescuers arrived May 16, they found a vision of hell.  When you consider
80% of this town is destroyed, you know the true death toll in China is likely
approaching 200,000 or more.  We will never know.

Fears that a dam may burst, furthering the disaster and death toll.
Some 2,000 Chinese troops were sent to repair "extremely dangerous" cracks in
a dam upstream where 500,000 people live.  Town would be swamped if the
Zipingpu reservoir were to breach the hydroelectric dam, five miles upstream.

May 12  A magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck central China,
damaging buildings and roads and causing injuries and deaths.
Many Chinese lost their ONLY CHILD, due to China's 1-child per family policy.

This was just a dish rattler, but alarmed Alabamans.  Earthquakes are rare
although not unheard of here.  A more powerful quake might have posed a
threat to the nearby Coffeeville Dam and the U.S. 84 bridge over the river.

I heard one reporter call this a COMMUNIST regime.
Myanmar's junta kept a French navy ship laden with aid waiting, and showed off
neatly laid out state relief camps to diplomats.  The tour appeared aimed at
countering global criticism of failure to provide for survivors of Cyclone Nargis,
which left at least 134,000 people dead or missing.

Fed's Direct Loans to Banks Climb 
The Federal Reserve's direct loans of cash to commercial banks climbed to the
highest level on record as money-losing lenders increasingly turn to the central
bank for funds.  Policy makers have increased the attractiveness of direct loans

May 17  Train Overturns in Louisiana, Leaks Hydrochloric Acid.
Six rail cars have derailed, with two cars leaking hydrochloric acid and forcing
police to evacuate thousands of residents within 1 mile of the accident.  The
area is mostly businesses with some apartment complexes and a nursing home.

Crazy' Ants Swarm Houston, Ruin Electronic Devices.  Swarming ants that
apparently arrived in Texas aboard a cargo ship through the port of Houston are
invading homes and yards across the Houston area, shorting out electrical boxes
and messing up computers.  The hairy, reddish-brown creatures are known as
crazy rasberry ants.  There are thousands of them.  They are found
in the Southeast and the Caribbean.

May  17 - Massive Texas sinkhole becomes a lake, home to alligator.
The giant Texas sinkhole that formed last week is now a lake big enough to become

MISSOURI Sinkhole

May 13  Cape Girardeau - The sinkhole appeared February 2008
about 45 feet deep and 22 feet across and hungry.  This month the sinkhole
swallowed several tons of rock they had poured inside in an attempt to fill the
hole.  All that rock probably disappeared in 30 seconds. It just went 'whoomp!

20 sinkholes have opened up which cut through the heart of Cape Girardeau's
industrial section, damaging 2 gas mains and threatening the city's wastewater
treatment plant. The city has closed the street as well as a bridge that spans it.

Texas pastor threatened for talking to Boy Scouts about bill of rights.

A student of a large bible college in east Texas was accused by federal agents of
committing an "act of terror and espionage" after he gave a talk to a group of Boy
Scouts in which he encouraged them to educate themselves about the U.S. Constitution.

Jeff is a student of the college and an interim pastor of a small church in Mount
Vernon, Texas.  Jeff was tasked with the role of giving a short speech and a tour
to a group of Boy Scouts that were visiting the college, with a focus on how
patriotism and liberty are emphasized in the teaching style of the university.

Jeff said he told the boys, "It's going to be you who is going to take this country and
either make or break it - you need to get back to your constitution, you need to get
to know your bill of rights and you need to stand up for them.  I went to my room and
I broke down in tears after the meeting was finished.  That's it - our country's gone.
To have secret police threatening bible college students for talking about the
constitution is the most disturbing and un-American scenario one can possibly imagine.

May 20  UPDATE  Kennedy has a cancerous brain tumor.
May 17  SINator Edward 'Teddy' Kennedy was rushed to a hospital, spent
less than an hour in the Cape Cod emergency room, then transferred to Massachusetts
General Hospital in Boston.  First reports said he had stroke-like symptoms.  Later
reported Kennedy suffered a seizure in the morning, and then another en route to
Massachuetts General Hospital.  He is doing fine by days end.

Kennedy, 76, had fallen ill at the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport. A 911 call came
in from the compound. Kennedy is one of Barack Hussein Obama's biggest supporters.

GOD's Clock 
This GODs Clock blog is a rapture site which I hate, but even so there is some insight
in this link worth reading.  There is no rapture, but these people DO see signs which
Jesus described in Matthew 24 and Luke 21.  Their error is thinking we will escape.
We are either approaching or in the tribulation NOW.  I am not sure about the 7 year
interpretations.  The bible does say 42 months for the man of sin, antichrist, who is
controlling all earth leaders now.
