Will you end up with Him or in a fiery pit? This is a neglected topic today. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left. v 31 There is an awesome Day coming when every person that has ever lived will stand before Christ on his throne, the great Judgment Day. Most young people today have never even heard that such a day is coming. Jesus said that when he comes back to this earth with his holy angels that he will sit down on a throne and judge all people. It will be like a shepherd coming to the pen and separating the sheep from the goats. The sheep represent the saved, redeemed people. The goats represent the unsaved. The sheep will be put on his right side and the goats on the left. All a shepherd has to do to get his sheep was call for them. They know his voice and follow him. In a whole pen full of sheep belonging to various shepherds, his will separate themselves and follow because they love and trust his voice. Goats are contrary and independent. The goats consistently ran away, they are independent and self centered. I don't believe that it will be difficult for Christ to separate the sheep from the goats. All he will have to do is have the door open to heaven on his right hand and invite the people to come and spend eternity with him. Those who are children of God will know and love his voice and rush to his right hand. My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' v. 24 Jesus said that the sheep and goats were evident by their lifestyle. The sheep are people who feed the hungry, care for strangers, clothe the naked, minister to the sick and visit the prisoners. The goats are those who don't even notice that there are people in need around them. A true child of God, a follower of Jesus Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit is a COMPASSIONATE person. A child of God cares about the lost. A child of God ministers to the needy. A child of God is not focused on self. We can have needy people close to home that we don't even see. Does YOUR church feed the homeless, have a food pantry or provide kids a safe place to come after school? Christianity is not some sort of fire insurance to keep us out of hell. Christianity is inviting the Lord Jesus Christ to fill us with the Holy Spirit, literally possess us and let the love of God flow through us to the world He has created.
