Sept 22 President Shimon Peres asked Tzipi Livni to try to form a new
coalition government. Ehud Barak and Likud's Binyamin Netanyahu are quietly moving
forward with a rival plan. The two party leaders, both former prime ministers, are
discussing an early election to preempt a Livni government. The plan is for their two
parties to face the voter as a single bloc committed to form an emergency
government for urgently confronting the Iranian nuclear threat. Livni lacks the numbers
for a coalition government. Therefore, Israel could dissolve the Knesset and call a

Sept 21 Outgoing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert formally submitted his
resignation to President Shimon Peres. NEVER - EVER - try to understand Israeli politics!
The current tendency is for an early election rather than a new government.
Olmert stays on as caretaker until a new government is formed.

rotate the premiership between them. Jewish High holidays start with the New Year

Sept 23 Two soldiers seriously hurt when a BMW crashed into soldiers on
the sidewalk in Jerusalem. Terrorist from southern Jerusalem shot dead. The soldiers
were on the way to the Western Wall. Many Palestinian attacks since Israel eased
some counter-terror restrictions for Ramadan. It never pays for Israel to be nice to

A secret dedication ceremony took place to a 'Monument of Tolerance' in Jerusalem

Sept 23 The Georgian military has shot down a Russian reconnaissance

TURKEY - Baby deaths in hospital
Sept 22 13 premature newborn babies died over a 24-hour period at a
hospital in Izmir. Turkish newspapers have suggested that a hospital infection
may have been a factor. 27 newborns died over 15 days in July at a state hospital

The Ankara hospital said the deaths were caused by hypertension, heart failure and

Sept 22 The Federal Reserve granted a Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley
request to change their status to bank holding companies. This happened on SUNDAY.
Other Fed fear moves have occurred after markets close on Fridays and on Sundays.

The Fed announced that it had approved the request of the two investment banks.
The change in status will allow them to create commercial banks that will be able
to take deposits, bolstering the resources of both institutions. The change
continued the biggest restructuring on Wall Street since the Great Depression.

Now both companies will come under the direct regulation of the Federal Reserve
(instead of the SEC), which regulates the nation's bank holding companies.
Investors feared that the last remaining independent investment banks would not
be able to survive in their current form. The Federal Reserve is a group of the
worlds wealthiest men, it is NOT Federal at all.

Too much government intervention that cased the mortgage meltdown. It was
NOT corporate greed. The government pressured Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae

homeownership up, that it undermined the country's financial foundation.
The fed increased pressure on lenders to seek out minorities, low-income groups
and borrowers with poor credit histories.

Fannie Mae agreed with the Dept of Housing to commit half its business to
low- and moderate-income borrowers. Freddie Mac warned of the logical pitfalls
of pursuing loans on the basis of skin color and not credit history. Far more

October Martial law in USA
I am seeing in several places NOT known to be trustworthy about Bush declaring
martial law the first week of October. My last issue I carried the dream 'Missiles
of October.' I am HIGHLY SKEPTICAL of this Oct 5 martial law stuff. I do NOT
believe the economy can justify that. One report said the phony excuse will be
some kind of biblical plague and we all must stay home. I do NOT intend to get
any mandatory vaccine. They can make people sick.
